It wouldn't be the Melbourne Derby without some classic controversy, right? VAR returned as Round One of the A-League got underway on Friday night.
With 40,000 in the house at Marvel Stadium on Saturday Night, a deafening chorus of boos began with six minutes left in the first half of the Derby. When Bruno Fornaroli's Melbourne City were awarded a penalty folllowing a 'joke' of a VAR decision, Australia's football fans went into meltdown. Here's the reaction:

Someone please explain to me how hundreds of thousands of people watching, plus 30,000 inside the stadium can correctly tell that was NEVER a penalty - yet the four men in the quiet room with the best camera angles possible manage to get it wrong? 👿#VAR #MelbDerby #MVCvMCY— Leo James 📲⚽️ (@realLeoJames) October 20, 2018
